چکیده

Two spectral components of heart rate variability, respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) and Mayer wave-related sinus arrhythmia (MWSA), respectively provide noninvasive indices of cardiac vagal activity and systemic sympathetic activity with vagal modification. Their amplitudes are usually obtained from spectral analysis of R-R intervals measured on an electrocardiogram (ECG). In the present study, it was examined whether peak-to-peak intervals measured on a finger plethysmogram (FPG) can be alternative data to the ECG R-R intervals for the same analysis. If we can substitute the FPG for the ECG, this provides an advantage in a routine physical examination at a work site, because the FPG is often easier to be applied to many subjects than the ECG.

A preliminary attempt to understand compatibility of photoplethysmographic pulse rate variability with electrocardiogramic heart rate variability

In this study, we investigated the difference between heart rate variability (HRV) derived from electrocardiogramic(ECG) signals and pulse rate variability (PRV) derived from photoplethysmographic(PPG) signals. Fourteen healthy subjects conducted the protocol: 10 min physiological signals including distal pulse wave on finger and ear from photoplethysmography (PPG), and heart beat from electroc...

Analysis of Heart Rate Variability During Meditative and Non-Meditative State Using Analysis of Variance

In this paper the main objective is to quantify and compare the instantaneous value of heart rate for normal breathing patterns during Meditation and Non Meditation conditions. This paper involves Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) technique for the analysis of the heart rate variability patterns during the meditative and non meditative states. The analysis is divided into three stages i.e. data acqu...

Assessment of heart rate variability derived from finger-tip photoplethysmography as compared to electrocardiography.

Heart rate variability (HRV) is traditionally derived from RR interval time series of electrocardiography (ECG). Photoplethysmography (PPG) also reflects the cardiac rhythm since the mechanical activity of the heart is coupled to its electrical activity. Thus, theoretically, PPG can be used for determining the interval between successive heartbeats and heart rate variability. However, the PPG w...

Comparison of Pulse Rate Variability and Heart Rate Variability for Hypoglycemia Syndrome.

BACKGROUND Heart rate variability (HRV) is a signal obtained from RR intervals of electrocardiography (ECG) signals to evaluate the balance between the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system; not only HRV but also pulse rate variability (PRV) extracted from finger pulse plethysmography (PPG) can reflect irregularities that may occur in heart rate and control procedure...
